The Field – by Lynne McTaggert

The tag line “The Quest for The Secret Force of the Universe” says it all.

Some have called it the Causal plane, the Monadic plane, Adi, or Buddhic Plane,  but Lynne discusses it as The Field, from the quantum physicists Zero Point Field.

Read it with a sense of journey and wonderful possibilities.  Written for the logical part of the brain, it’s a great little path on your own adventures of thought.

The Field, 4lawofattractionLynne discusses topics such as The Zero Point Field, Coherence, Psychokinesis, and the connections between Consciousness and Healing, and Intention.  The Field connects research from such scientists as James Clerk Maxwell,  Fritz-Albert Popp, Michael Faraday, Jacques Benveniste, Max Planck, Karl Pribram, David Bohm, Russel Targ, Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, and Rupert Sheldrake.

Here’s a few thoughts from The Field that really poked at the hot coals in my own brain.

  • By tapping into the Field, Consciousness has been shown to affect plant growth, bacteria growth, rodent behavior, cats and dogs, enzyme activity, crime rates and even Healing in strangers.
  • How this Zero Point Energy Field could explain why “when closely packed together, atoms and molecules exhibit a collective behavior, forming what scientists have termed ‘coherent domains’.”  This collective behavior can also be seen in crowd mentalities, or the beauty of schools of fish or flocks of birds as they instantly all change direction as one entity.
  • Seeds, or the water used for those plants, when held (or thought about) by depressed people repeatedly showed suppressed growth.  Contrary,  holding or thinking of the seeds or water in a positive manner – showed a statistical  difference in growth.
  • Molecules can respond to the Vibration of another molecule in the same way AS IF it had actually touched the original molecule.  Yes, biological chain reactions were initiated when just the sound Frequency was relayed.  This  explains how on average, some 100,000 chemical reactions per second in each cell in your body, could happen, rather than “blindly bumping into each other” like little solid billiard balls.)

The Field can help orchestrate some New Momentum in our thinking, which is what life is all about, right?

Mind Over Medicine, by Lissa Rankin, M.D.

One word summary for the book- “Healing”. 

Like getting insider secrets from anywhere, who isn’t going to listen when a doctor spills some insights?  Having 20 years of medical study and practice, Lissa’s book is full of personal history, anecdotes, research and, most of all, compassion for people. Witnessing a lack of Caring and Complete Understanding in the medical system, she decided to leave the “herding” school of thought and went down a different path for Wellness.  Instead of improving on a Bedside manner, she knew she had to look at the more complete “Headside manner” (ouch, my words not hers, sorry Lissa.)

If doctors agreed there was a mind-body connection, why couldn’t they openly teach and pursue those options?  Why, if almost 30% of patients responded to a placebo effect, wasn’t that getting top financial and scientific support?  Understanding the link between the mind and body, Lissa decided that  “Promoting health of the body without encouraging health of the mind is an exercise in futility.”  “The Physiology of Emotion” was the real topic that needed addressing.

Bernie Siegel M.D. once stated that “to heal is to alleviate suffering – not to stop “death”.” Lissa seems to share the idea. Acknowledging that all outcomes vary, as we can’t know “what lessons we’re here on this earth to learn“, she does show us how we can at least tip the scale in a more proactive approach to our health and abilities of our body.

According to Lissa, here’s six apples a day to keep the doctor at bay:

  • Try visualizing a grounding cord, coming out of your bottom like an electrical cord or tree roots” and releasing down that grounding cord the un-serving thoughts, and then uploading healing light from it.
  • Did you know that Loneliness, could forecast more accurately the overall health of a person, than did their exercise, smoking, or eating habits?
  • When the conscious forebrain thinks Positive thoughts and feels things like love, connection, intimacy, pleasure, and hope, the hypothalamus stops triggering the stress response.”  (You should see the list of negatives that this stops!)
  • Flexing your creative muscles is as important to overall health and happiness as is flexing your biceps.”
  • Study after study showing the healthy benefits of being Happy. For example, one study cited showed that “heart-disease rates among optimists were half the rates in pessimists. The difference between the two groups was as dramatic as that seen between smokers and non-smokers.”
  • In this state of relaxation, errors of DNA get fixed, enzymes catalyze repair processes, immune cells can get busy chomping up infectious agents… The body is a miracle waiting to happen, if only we optimize its ability to do what it’s made to do naturally.”

Lissa discusses the “Whole Health Cairn” which you may have seen on TEDx talk in 2011.  This is a balance of many aspects of life, all centered upon your “Inner Pilot Light”.

I’d recommend the book to anyone as it covers so many topics easily understood by both the science and medically studied, as well as the first timer to any mind-body study ideas.  Truly a great work with a noble intent. Thanks Lissa.
